Ihofa Forest is a large parcel of intact tropical moist forest with 13 species of lemur, among the most in a single location in Madagascar. Students will be allowed to explore the forest in both diurnal and nocturnal settings. There are bamboo stands, wetlands, and montane forests in this location, so students can experience different habitats and how methodologies need to be adjusted based on the landscape in which a study will be conducted.

8 days in the field observing lemurs at Ihofa Vohitsara Bioreserve, 4 days in Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar.
A pre-trip visit to Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo to hear from conservationists and practice observing lemurs.
Get first-hand experience in focal animal behavioral sampling, population surveys, and habitat assessment.
Students will gain a hands-on experience on how to conduct primate behavioral studies, and be exposed to the complexities of different forms of data collection.
