All youth who plan to show a Market Beef animal or Second Year Bucket Calf at the 2024 County Fairs, State Fair, or AKSARBEN need to receive an 840 EID tag and complete the identification paper. The tag and paperwork can be picked up at your local Extension Office. State Fair and Aksarben animals must also have DNA hair samples taken and turned into the county office. DNA envelopes are available at the Extension office. Market Beef ONLY need to be weighed for the optional county rate of gain contest. Deadline to identify and nominate market beef for county or state fair or AKSARBEN is June 15. First weigh: 10am to noon, Jan 6, 2024 at 37 Cattle Co, north of Holdrege. Second weigh: 10 to noon, Feb 3, 2024 at Forster Farms, east of Smithfield.
