ABSTRACT: Ultrafast time-resolved reflection and transmission (TRRT) is a pump-probe style experimental technique that allows probing of the carrier and lattice dynamics with a time resolution in the femtosecond region. In the study of non-thermal laser-matter interactions, TRRT is a powerful and flexible tool that provides the possibility of probing the dynamics of phonon modes up to 16.5THz. I present the methodology, experimental setup and application of TRRT, along with a comparison to ultrafast electron diffraction.
