This presentation will explain how and why people encounter conflict at work, while also providing ideas and tools for navigating difficult conversations with ease. The presentation involves an interdisciplinary look at conflict, including some discussion of neuroscience and psychology. The advice and tools for more effective conversations stem from work in dispute resolution.

The goals of the presentation are:
1) provide a more holistic view of conflict and its potential for positive change, and
2) equip audience members with additional tools for dealing with conflict in a productive way.
This presentation is a conference rewind from the 2025 UNL All-Staff Conference.
Presented by Kristen Blankley, Professor, College of Law
Biography: Professor Kristen Blankley teaches and researches in the areas of alternative dispute resolution, particularly mediation and arbitration issues. She joined the faculty of the University of Nebraska College of Law in 2010 and is currently the Henry M. Grether, Jr. Professor of Laoutw. Professor Blankley is interested in the intersection of ADR and ethics, both ADR ethics and legal ethics.
