Join us for the opening reception for “New Farmers” as part of Lincoln’s First Friday Art Walk. The Museum will be open late, from 5-7 p.m.
New Farmers is a collaborative research project between photographer D. Bryon Darby, designer Tim Hossler, and sociologist Paul Stock. An observation of today’s independent farmer, the project merges visual images with the print media of newspapers to explore and discuss contemporary farming. “New Farmers” aims to tell the story and empower the diversity of a new breed of first-generation, small-scale, sustainable farmer.
Project collaborators Darby, Hossler, and Stock will give a short talk in the lower-level gallery at 6 p.m. during this event.
Comprised of large-scale prints (up to 40x50-inches) from the project (images and text panels) are paired with copies of the “New Farmers” newspaper are available for visitors addressing the subjects of the work, food and farming on the Great Plains. More about the project can be found at http://www.newfarmersproject.com/
This event is free and open to the public. Visit us first as we close at 7 p.m.! Please share this event with anyone who might be interested. Parking is usually available in the Que Place garage at 11th and Q streets.
