At 6 p.m. inside the New Farmers exhibition in the lower-level gallery, Andrew Husa, Great Plains Graduate Fellow from UNL Geography, will give a short talk about rural population in the Plains. While a large number of small towns in rural Nebraska have declined in population throughout the 20th Century, there are some outliers. Husa’s project is to map and chronicle these small towns that have been successful in not only sustaining their population, but adding to it.

Exhibitions on display:

New Farmers – Aims to tell the story and empower the diversity of a new breed of first-generation, small-scale, sustainable farmer. (Brought to you by Humanities Nebraska)

From Paint Brushes to Camera Lenses: Creative Women of the Great Plains – Paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs from the permanent collection highlight the creative spirit of women artists.

This event is free and open to the public. Visit us first as we close at 7 p.m.!
