Draft a peer-reviewed statement that reflects your teaching beliefs and experiences in this interactive, two-part online workshop. Participants will work to draft and edit a teaching statement, which is often required for US academic job applications. We will discuss elements of teaching statements, evidence of effective teaching tailored for different academic jobs, and strategies to get started or polish existing teaching statements. Participants from all disciplines will become better equipped and prepared to communicate their teaching practice through this workshop’s collaborative, peer-review process. Workshop Schedule This workshop has two online sessions, at 2-3:30PM ET / 1-2:30PM CT / 12-1:30PM MT / 11AM-12:30PM PT on Monday, March 26 and Monday, April 9. Workload Participants are strongly encouraged to have an existing teaching statement (drafts are acceptable). After the first session, participants will be expected to either revise their existing statement or draft a new statement in advance of in-depth peer review work in the second session. Registration & Enrollment This workshop is limited to 40 participants. Registration runs from January 2 through Friday, March 23 at 12PM CT. STEM/SBE grad students and postdocs from CIRTL institutions receive priority; we refer to the institution, role, and discipline in your website profile when assessing priority.
