Directions: Join us for a 4-mile jog beginning at Cultiva East (3535 Holdrege St., #130), which will end at the Nebraska East Union. In the Arbor Suite, we will hear from former School of Natural Resources Dean, Dr. Don Wilhite. The speaker will begin at 11:00AM

Dr. Donald A. Wilhite is a Professor Emeritus of Applied Climate Science in the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, U.S.A. Prior to August 2012, Dr. Wilhite served as director of the School of Natural Resources, a position he held from 2007 to 2012. Previously, Dr. Wilhite was the founding Director of the National Drought Mitigation Center in 1995 and the International Drought Information Center in 1989 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a Fellow in the American Meteorological Society. His research and outreach activities have focused on issues of drought monitoring, planning, mitigation, and policy, the use of climate information in decision-making and the implications of climate change on Nebraska. Dr. Wilhite is editor or co-editor of numerous books on drought and drought management, including Drought and Water Crises (CRC Press, 2005); From Disaster Response to Risk Management: Australia’s National Drought Policy (Springer, 2005); and Drought: A Global Assessment (Routledge, 2000). Dr. Wilhite was also the lead author of the 2014 UNL report, Understanding and Assessing Climate Change: Implications for Nebraska, and a co-author of a follow up report that provided the results of 8 sector-based roundtable discussions on adaptation and mitigation strategies for climate change in Nebraska.
