Volunteers Needed for Pawnee Corn Event April 28, 2018

Who: Volunteers are needed to help at Honoring Nebraska’s First Farmers Earth week event. Location will be at Central Community College/ Hastings campus in the Dawson Gym.

We will need 8 volunteers to work 2 hour shifts assisting visitors at the zero waste recycling bins, parking, set up and clean up.

What: The morning shifts from 8-10 AM will help with set up of vendors tables, signs, and zero waste bins, and parking lot attendants in pairs. The 10-12 and 12-2 PM shifts will be providing information on the waste bins at the events, parking lot attendants, and helping set up for lunch. The 2-4 volunteer shift will also include help with tear down and clean up.

When: Central Community College/ Hastings campus. Saturday April 28th, from 9AM-3PM. Location will be in the Dawson gym.

The event honors Nebraska’s first Farmers, and the efforts CCC has made to successfully to return Pawnee corn to Nebraska. Tribal members Deb Echo-Hawk from Oklahoma, will be speaking.
Nationally known, Hunter Lovins from Natural Capitalism Soloutions will be the key note speaker with knowledge of sustainability and regenerative agriculture.
A Native American meal ($10 and reservation required), Pawnee Nation Sacred drum, and sustainability focused vendors and bee/composting/and wind turbine tours will complete the event.
