Over the past couple years, the term “grit” has become widely popular in education. “Gritty” individuals possess the ability to achieve long-term goals and overcome adversity. Student Support Services (SSS) and the Office of Academic Support and Intercultural Services (OASIS) recognize this call to action and are hosting a workshop to assist students with non-cognitive development.
Dr. Deena Curtis will offer an introductory perspective on perseverance. Then, Mitchell Strong, Jr., an accomplished professional athlete and coach, will share critical insights into self-discipline and tenacity.
His story will illuminate that life challenges do not have to become permanent roadblocks to success. In fact, they can develop into positive opportunities for growth and the courage to persist.
