DESCRIPTION:These scholarships are awarded by the Education Abroad Office a
 nd/or an external committee\, and have various types of award criteria\, i
 ncluding language learning\, previous travel\, program sponsor\, host coun
 try\, and program type. UNL Education Abroad scholarships are merit-based 
 (“essay-based”)\, and financial need is also considered. \n\nThere are
  three distinct applications\: \n- the MAPS Scholarship Application (to ap
 ply for several awards at one time)\n- Early Abroad (Students going abroad
  within their first two years at UNL)\n- Wiebers (For students studying a 
 language abroad) \n\nStudents are encouraged to apply for all applications
  that they are eligible for. Students may start scholarship applications p
 rior to acceptance into a program.
