The collaborative work of Madison Simmons Creech, a 2010 graduate of Nebraska’s Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design program, and her husband Matthew Creech will show at the Robert Hillestad Textiles Gallery from Dec. 4 to Jan. 22.
The Creeches work presents common experiences in contemporary society as emblematic of pop culture nostalgia. The imagery is a mix of lowbrow idiosyncrasies and pop icons, mashed together to create lighthearted, digitally-manipulated quilts conditioned by political and melancholic undertones.
The image shown here is titled “Can You Take Me Higher,” a digitally printed and quilted cotton.
