American Indians have the highest risk of violent victimization, compared to all other United States Ethnic groups. Research on perception of and attitudes about violence and American Indians demonstrates ethnic differences between American Indians and the dominant culture. Legal issues hinder the ability of tribal and non-tribal law enforcement to address surrounding American Indians and violence and offer some suggestions for future research and policy change.
