ABSTRACT: In this hour-long mini workshop, you will obtain hands-on experience performing a simple calculation (summing from 1 to 16) with a supercomputer, using both serial and parallel computing. No prior knowledge of programing is required. The only thing you need to do is follow the cheat sheets step by step (copy & paste)! We aim to give the framework of the standard supercomputing process and demonstrate that it does not require huge efforts for one to take advantage of state-of-the-art supercomputing resources.

WHO SHOULD COME? Anyone (faculty, grad & undergrad student, staff…) who have heard about supercomputing in the past and would like to find out how much effort one needs to pay before one can take advantage of the state-of-the-art supercomputing resources at both UNL and across the United States. HCC staff will be in attendance to assist other attendees as needed.

DATE & TIME: Wednesday, 02/27/2013, 4:00pm-5:00pm (Refreshments of pizza and pop begin at 3:30pm.)

- Registration through email, wayneh@huskers.unl.edu (subject title: Supercomputing Mini Workshop Registration at EAS)
- Bring a laptop so that you can set up your personal supercomputing workstation!

This event is sponsored by Holland Computing Center (HCC) of the University of Nebraska and XSEDE, a NSF funded national supercomputer network.
