All 4-H volunteers, volunteers from other agencies, youth development professionals, parents and staff are invited to attend the upcoming Holiday Heart & Hands program. This educational program will provide ideas and inspiration for those who work with youth and will be presented by UNL Extension 4-H Youth Development Educators. Five program sites are scheduled across the state. Program topics include Digital Storytelling, Engaging Older Youth, RX for Text Bullying, and Idea Stations. The clinic’s goals are to provide education for farmers and their advisors about: •understanding crop-growth stages when water stress is and is not acceptable; •optimizing limited irrigation water for crops and crop rotation systems; •recognizing weed, insect and disease pest shifts under crop drought stress; •appreciating the benefits of leaving old crop residues for soil moisture and •organic matter retention; and developing a cost-efficient crop and crop system fertilizer plan.
