A rare Civil War quilt urges Union soldiers to “Rally ‘round the flag, boys.” The quilt, in the International Quilt Study Center & Museum collection, also provides evidence that women leveraged female cultural ideals to both defend the Union and care for its soldiers, all from the home front.
