CICL 804 is a sequential class to CICL 803. Having established certain Chinese language skills, students will be introduced to more Chinese poetry genres such as Tang poems, Song poems and Yuan verse. Under teacher’s guidance, students’ writing skills will also be widened, from simple descriptive writing to narrative Chinese writing and common practical Chinese writing. This class also encourages students to build Chinese vocabulary by reading Chinese literature works selected in accordance with student’s cognition levels. At the end of this semester, students will be able to recite approximately five new classical poems, and master about 100 characters to prepare students to take appropriate levels of Chinese Proficiency Test.
