CICL 101 is a course for people with no or little previous Chinese language proficiency. This class will present the pinyin (Chinese phonics) system, description of Chinese characters, and preliminary Chinese culture. It will emphasize on the communication skills that are closely related to their everyday life on five themes: greetings, names, nationalities, occupations and ages. Students are expected to learn about 100 Chinese characters at the end of the class.
