Four field pea plot tours are scheduled for Scotts Bluff, Cheyenne, Box Butte and Perkins counties. These tours will feature 21 varieties from commercial seed companies Great Northern, Legume Logic, Meridian, Pulse USA, and Arrowseed. These include varieties currently being grown in Nebraska as well as experimental lines that represent potential new varieties. Dates and locations of the field pea plot tours:
June 13, 8 a.m., Scotts Bluff County: UNL Panhandle Research and Extension Center small plot area, 4502 Avenue I, Scottsbluff.
June 14, 9 a.m., Cheyenne County: High Plains Ag Lab Field Day. From HPAL office, 0.5 miles east on CR 32N, then north .25 miles on trial road. Plot is on the field 26.
June 15, 8 a.m., Box Butte County: From Hemingford, nearly 7 miles east on Link 7E (Dodge Rd) to CR 63, then about ¾ miles south on CR 63. Plots are on the right side of the road. Pea will be surrounded by corn and winter wheat plots to the left of the pea plot.
June 15, 12:45 p.m., Perkins County: From Brandon, NE, west on Hwy 23 to road 316, then 300 feet south on dirt road. Plot is on the right side.

UNL specialists will be on hand at some or all of the wheat and pea tour stops, including Plant Pathologist Stephen Wegulo and Bob Harveson, Wheat Breeder Stephen Baenziger, Extension Entomologist Jeff Bradshaw, Dryland Cropping Systems Specialist Cody Creech, and Alternative Crops Breeding Specialist Dipak Santra. In addition, representatives of many private seed companies of both wheat and pea will be at the tours.
