2016 UNL High Plains Ag Lab June Field Day

Directions: U.S. 385 to the Huntsman Elevator (6 miles north of Sidney or 7 miles south of Gurley), then drive about 2 miles west, then ½ mile north. The shop is about one-half mile east of the office.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln High Plains Ag Lab Field Day, scheduled for Tuesday, June 14, will highlight UNL research on dryland crops breeding and production, especially field pea, forages, and wheat.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the High Plains Ag Lab shop. Administrative updates will be provided by Keith Rexroth, Chair of the HPAL Advisory Board; and Jack Whittier, Director of the UNL Panhandle Research and Extension Center.
Following the field tours, lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Tour topics and speakers include:
• Pea Variety Testing (Dipak Santra, UNL Alternative Crops Breeding Specialist)
• Weed Management in Pea (Cody Creech, UNL Dryland Cropping Systems Specialist)
• Forage and Grazing (Karla Jenkins, UNL Cow-Calf and Range Management Specialist)
• Wheat Stem Sawfly Update (Susan Harvey, UNL Entomology Research Technician)
• Rust and Other Fungal Disease in Wheat (Stephen Wegulo, UNL Plant Pathologist)
• Wheat Breeding and Variety Testing (Stephen Baenziger, UNL Wheat Breeder)
