One of the best ways to get ideas for your own landscape is to visit other gardens, and visiting gardens with plant signage and a tour guide from the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum is even better.

Four gardens will be toured, all very different in appearance and mission, but each offers helpful ideas about plant selection, landscape design and management. Participants are encouraged to come with questions, landscape problems or even photos for discussion during the informal tours.

9:00am. Forest Lawn Cemetery, 7909 Mormon Bridge Rd. Curator Randy Crawford. Meet at entrance for a tour of this resting place for many of Omaha’s founders. The grounds have a great diversity of tree species.
10:30am. CABG Patch, 6100 Northern Hills Dr. Curators Bob & Carol Lynch. Park and meet at gray barns for a tour of private property with unusual trees from its previous days as a nursery.
Noon. Lunch on the way or at Lauritzen, 100 Bancroft St.
1:00pm. Lauritzen Gardens, 100 Bancroft Street. Curator Melissa Burdick & Trent Erickson. Meet inside Visitor Center to tour Bird Sanctuary, Train Garden, Conservation Discovery Garden and Spring Flowering Walk. (NSA members admitted free; $10 admittance for non-members)
3:00pm Bridlewood Park, 16300 Ohio Street. Curator Warren Vickery. Bridlewood Park has ball fields, a creek with bridge, picnic area and a playground.
