Jamie Fritz’s Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition, titled “Someone/no one” runs April 16-20 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. A closing reception is Friday, April 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public.

Fritz, in her artist’s statement, says she is obsesses with the pieces of existence; the memories, experiences and emotions that make up human identity.

“Our lives are defined by entropy that causes these pieces to fragment and become distorted over time. Looking back at the pieces they become almost unrecognizable, and it becomes unclear if they are something or if they are nothing,” she writes. “My work centers on a compulsive desire to put these pieces into something that makes sense.”

A recipient of a Hixson-Lied Fellowship, Fritz is completing her M.F.A. in sculpture this May. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in studio art from the University of Wyoming.

Her recent exhibitions include “Red Meat and Gluten: Graduate Showcase” and “Contrary Behaviors: Invitational Exhibition” at the Nebraska Union’s Rotunda Gallery and “Counterpoint” at Lichen Gallery in Lincoln.

Gallery hours for this thesis exhibition are Monday-Thursday, noon to 4 p.m. or by appointment by calling (402) 472-5522. The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery is on the first floor of Richards Hall, which is located at Stadium Drive and T sts., directly south of Memorial Stadium. Gallery admission is free and open to the public.
