On Friday, May 2, at 7:30 PM in Kimball Recital Hall, the UNL Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Tyler Goodrich White, and the University Women’s Chorale, under the direction of Therees Tkach Hibbard, will perform a concert of music by English composers in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. Featured on the program are Gustav Holst’s epic suite The Planets, and Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor. Gregory Beaver, cellist with the Chiara String Quartet, Ensemble-in-Residence in the Glenn Korff School of Music at UNL, will be soloist for the Elgar. Rounding out the program is Vaughan Williams’s Overture to The Wasps. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors, and is available at the door.
