The Seed of Dream by Lori Laitman (b. 1955)

to texts by Abraham Sutzkever

The Seed of Dream sets several poems of the Vilna Ghetto survivor Abraham Sutzkever, who consistently produced poems of great artistry under the most dire of circumstances. These first-hand accounts, written between 1941 and 1944, not only bear witness to the destruction around him but to his undying belief in the beauty of the word and the world. The Seed of Dream was commissioned by Music of Remembrance and had its premier performance in 2005 at the Holocaust Remembrance Concert in Seattle, WA.
