The Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film’s theatre season begins with “Dancing at Lughnasa” by Brian Friel.

This 1990 play is set in Ireland’s County Donegal in August 1936 in the fictional town of Ballybeg, where love seems possible if only for a short time. It is a memory play told from the point of view of the adult Michael Evans, the narrator. He recounts the summer in his aunts’ cottage when he was seven years old.

Performances are Oct. 8-9 and 13-17 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 11 and 18 at 2 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

Tickets for the upcoming season go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 8. They are $18 regular, $16 faculty/staff/senior citizens and $12 students and are available through the Lied Center Box Office at (402) 472-4747 or (800) 432-3231 or in person at 301 N. 12th St. Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and one hour prior to curtain in the Temple Lobby.
