In its final performance of the Fall semester, the Big Red Singers will premiere its second show of the season in anticipation of UNL’s Midwest Cup Show Choir Competition on January 16, 2016. In their initial performance in August, the Big Red Singers performed select titles of recent Nebraska Show Choir Camp songs. On December 13th, the Big Red Singers will debut its customized show: a show that will be performed as an exhibition at numerous show choir events around the area during the competition season. Featuring custom arrangements by UNL alumni Nick Dahlquist and Andrew Jacobson, as well as current BRS member Thomas Stoysich, and with choreography by Alex Hall, Ben Eklund and April James, the Big Red Singers will deliver a high-energy, high-quality performance that won’t soon be forgotten.

Directed by Kirk Schjodt, Big Red Singers is an ensemble featuring some of the university’s finest musicians. Outstanding performers from all over the university, representing a variety of different majors, work together in the development of entertaining, high-energy, fully-choreographed shows. The ensemble’s repertoire is chosen from a wide variety of popular music as well as music from Broadway.

The UNL Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a small choir, directed by David von Kampen, that focuses on performing in the jazz idiom. It is open to all members of the University community by audition. Students are instructed in varying tonal and timbral production, the art of solo jazz singing, and vocal improvisation.

They will perform:
Walk With Me, Lord - traditional (arr. Kerry Marsh)
Charleston Alley - Jon Hendricks/Edgar Sampson (arr. Darmon Meader)
Skylark - Hoagy Carmichael/Johnny Mercer (arr. David von Kampen)
Alesund - Mark Kozelek (arr. David von Kampen)
My Favorite Things - Rogers and Hammerstein (arr. Kelly Kunz)

Additional Public Info:
