Buy Fresh Buy Local® Nebraska, your statewide program for building community through locally grown food, is hosting their annual Harvest Dinner.

Over the past nine years, by working together, we have made remarkable strides in connecting Nebraska consumers to great tasting and nutritious food they can purchase and enjoy. And to top it all off it is grown right here in Nebraska by Nebraska’s family farmers and ranchers! Not only have we grasped the concept that eating locally grown food tastes good, but the food dollars we spend on locally grown has a positive impact on the environment and is building a resilient food system that is also creating vital communities.

This year we are excited to include with the Harvest Dinner a farm tour. Lakehouse Farm owner, Jerry Cornett, will show us the behind-the-scene activity of how locally grown food sprouts from seeds to our table.

Guest Speaker: State Senator Richard L. Kolowski, is speaking on “How Innovative Local Food Policies Can Shift the Way We Eat” a statewide vision of how we can grow and eat more of our food locally and how the legislature can support this vision.

Dinner will be presented by Chef Renee, wife of Jerry Cornett and owner of Prairie Plate, a farm-to-table restaurant, located on Lakehouse Farm. Chef Renee will create an elite four-course dinner embracing seasonal products from the Lakehouse Farm and Buy Fresh Buy Local® Nebraska family farmers and ranchers from across the state.
