We’d like to invite you to attend a meeting regarding utilization of urban wood & lumber in the wake of the Emerald Ash Borer impact on the Kansas City region.

We’re pleased to be joined by Edith Makra, a noted national speaker on urban wood efforts and the chair of the Illinois EAB Wood Utilization Team, who will share her experiences and knowledge on the subject.

Also on the agenda will be some updated information on the impact of EAB regulations on the development of an urban wood industry. We’ll highlight some success stories and encourage attendees to talk about how to make urban wood utilization work. We hope for lots of discussion — we want to leave this meeting with a framework in place, so we can take action and move forward!

This meeting is not just aimed at forestry folk. Please forward to anyone in your network, community or organization who could play a role in a wood utilization district or could have interest. We want a wide array of people, business, government, and industry to attend, such as architects, builders, designers, sawmill operators, commercial arborists, wood carvers, city/county staff and managers, solid waste folks, secondary wood processors, city forestry staff, and anyone else who could have any role in promoting and using urban wood.

Due to space and logistical constraints, we have to limit attendance to 100 people, so please register soon. Additionally, we request that you register by January 23, 2015.
