Title: A Controlled Journey: There and Back Again

Additional Public Info:
We will journey into the field of mathematical control theory which seeks constructive ways of forcing physical phenomena, or their approximations described for instance by differential equations, to behave in a way that suits our purposes.

The presented examples will rely mostly on ordinary differential equations, but the conclusions will generalize to some partial differential equations too. We will also see how calculus and results obtained for linear models help resolve certain nonlinear control problems.

Refreshments will be served in 348 Avery at 3:30. The talk is free and open to the public.
