Jazz Orchestra and Big Band Jazz ensembles will give a concert on Tuesday, Oct 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: General admission $5, student/senior $3, available at the door one hour before the performance.

The UNL School of Music presents the 3rd Annual New Music for Big Band from UNL concert on Tuesday, October 11th at 7.30 p.m. in Kimball Recital Hall. This exciting program features the award-winning UNL Jazz Orchestra
directed by Dr. Eric Richards along with the UNL Big Band directed by Mr. Dave Stamps, UNL’s new Graduate Teaching Assistant in Jazz Studies.

The evening will feature several world premieres of pieces by newly written by UNL student composer-arrangers along with Nebraska premieres of music by UNL faculty and alumni. New works include:

Today is Tomorrow’s Yesterday by Andrew Janak

Leah Noelle by Dave Stamps

Process of Illumination by Karl Lyden, Downbeat Magazine’s 2011 Outstanding Undergraduate Composer

500 Miles High composed by Chick Corea and arranged by UNL’s new Vocal Jazz Ensemble director, Kara Baxter
