Think the E-flat clarinet is only an orchestral instrument used to portray such characters as the titular mythical prankster “Till” in Richard Strauss’s famous tone poem, Till Eulenspiegel Einmal Anders!??? Hixson-Lied Professor of Clarinet, Dr. Diane Barger, showcases the instrument’s capabilities in her September 29th recital, “Duos, Dances and Other Delights”. In addition to works for E-flat clarinet by Panizza, Bolcom, Sheng and Ponchielli, Barger will perform works by Reade and Schocker for the “standard” B-flat clarinet. Guest clarinetist Dr. Denise Gainey (University of Alabama-Birmingham) and UNL Professor of Piano, Dr. Mark Clinton, will join Barger for this delightful program.
