The October concert of UNL’s historic flagship mixed choral ensemble, University Singers, is titled SONGS FOR A BETTER WORLD: Music from around the globe. The music, some new and some repurposed in a very modern way, comes from austere locations and places not normally connected with famous choral singing and choral composing. This concert’s music hails from Switzerland, the Philippines, Latvia, France, and also includes a number of fine works by very young and internationally skilled composers still in their youth and prime, including Philip Stopford from England, Eriks Esenvalds from Latvia, Paul Rardin from Philadelphia, and David von Kampen from right here in Lincoln. The concert will also feature some long-time traditional works and those made famous over many decades.
