Please join us for a brown bag lunch discussion with Alexandra Wettlaufer, Professor of French and Comparative Literature at the University of Texas at Austin.
At 5 p.m. in the Bailey Library, 229 Andrews Hall, the spring 2015 colloquium series will begin with “Painting Women: Gender, Representation, and Artistic Identity” a talk by Alexandra Wettlaufer. Wettlaufer will bring to light a rich and nearly forgotten culture of women’s artistic production, allowing us to understand the nineteenth-century in more complex and nuanced ways across the borders of gender, genre, and nation. This talk is sponsored by the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures and will be followed by a reception.
