To find some of the most exquisite music even written for the human voice, one need look no further than the vast amount of choral music written during the European Renaissance. Composers of the time drew upon enlightenment ideals in art and philosophy, imbuing their music with a heightened level of expressiveness and sensitivity. The invention of the printing press meant that their work could be disseminated and preserved, influencing the history of choral composition throughout the western world. By turns playful or serious, sacred or profane, this music has delighted the ears and stirred the passions of listeners and performers for nearly 500 years and continues to do so in the present day.

About the Chamber Singers
Directed by Matthew Oltman, the University Chamber Singers is the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s premiere vocal chamber ensemble. A small choir of 24-28 voices, it is intended to provide the highest level of choral chamber performance experience for graduate and undergraduate singers at the Glenn Korff School of Music and throughout the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
