Expand your historical knowledge with this two-part lecture presentation covering the first, Issei, and second, Nisei, generations of Japanese in Nebraska. A little known piece of history, they formed rich community network. Starting as railroad workers, beet farmers, and in other working jobs they brought up their children. These children would grow up in the shadow of World War II, forging a new path of resilience and service to America as the country they knew as home. Experience this dynamic presentation for yourself and join us as we travel back in time to discover the contributions of these two generations.

RSVP for lecture and reception at goo.gl/w9pnxo.
Reception hosted in Nisei Garden from 3:30 to 4:30, immediately after lecture.

Julie Ushio an avid family historian and descendant of Issei with roots tracing back to Japan and reestablished connections with relatives on both sides of her family.

Vickie Schaepler was born and raised in Nebraska and is a granddaughter of Issei and daughter of Nisei.
