“Soil Investigations” will be presented by Dr. Rebecca Young, Department of Agronomy and Horticulture, and the University of Nebraska (UNL) Soil Judging Team. Visitors will get their hands dirty at this soil-themed event!

Children and families will take a look at the state soil, the Holdrege silt loam, and find out what makes it a valuable natural resource. Visitors will also explore the rainbow of soil colors, feel the texture of different soil types, and figure out the recipe for soil. The UNL Soil Judging Team will describe the grit and glory of soil judging and how to make the most out of the soil you have.

Due to a mechanical issue, the east (main) elevator is currently out of service. Visitors needing elevator transportation to enter the building are encouraged to use the elevator located to the right of the stairs at the front of the museum. Elevator transportation from floor-to-floor is currently limited to the second floor (first and third floors are unable to be accessed via elevator). We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sunday with a Scientist is typically held the third Sunday of every month from 12:30-4:30 p.m. highlighting the work of scientists while educating Morrill Hall visitors on a variety of science and natural history topics. Regular Museum admission, museum members attend for free.
