Visitors of all ages will find a wide array of nature-centric activities at this year’s Forest Festival on September 9th. The free event will be hosted from 4-8 PM (admission ends at 7) at Horning State Farm Demonstration Forest, three miles south of Plattsmouth on Horning Road.

At 240 acres, the property includes an array of habitats such as native woodland, planted oak savanna, grassy picnic areas, bluegrass prairie, and arboretum and wildlife areas. It’s Nebraska nature, at its finest.

Over 25 family-friendly activities will be featured including tree-climbing, archery, wildlife encounters, hayrack rides, kids’ games, nature scavenger hunts, and more. The Nebraska Forest Service will also be serving up over 1,000 free hot dog meals for those in attendance. Best of all, all activities are entirely free.
