You are invited to a Feb. 1 celebration in recognition of a four-year, $1 million Andrew W. Mellon Foundation grant for the project “U.S. Law and Race Initiative at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.” It is the largest Mellon Foundation grant in university history.

The celebration is 11 a.m.-noon, in the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, Ubuntu Room. Please register soon to attend. This event is open to the university community.

The project is led by William G. Thomas III, Angle Chair in the Humanities and professor of history; Katrina Jagodinsky, Susan J. Rosowski Associate Professor of History; Jeannette Jones, Carl A. Happold Associate Professor in History and Ethnic Studies; and collaborators in the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Law.

Speakers will include Chancellor Ronnie Green; Bob Wilhelm, vice chancellor for research and economic development; Mark Button, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Richard Moberly, dean of the College of Law; and the project team.

To help celebrate this outstanding team, colleagues are encouraged to submit a note of congratulations and well wishes. Information is included on the registration form. These notes will be shared with the team and may be displayed during the event.

For questions about the celebration, contact Lisa Maupin, events and outreach manager.
