Since 2013, the University of Nebraska - Lincoln has participated in a Veterans Day event called the National Roll Call to honor our service men and women from the state of Nebraska who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

The National Roll Call will be held a day before Veterans Day – Friday, November 10 in the Platte River Room of the Nebraska Union starting at 12:45 pm with the presentation of colors by the ROTC Joint Color Guard, national anthem and opening remarks.

At 1:00 pm there will be a moment of silence in remembrance of those we have lost.

After the moment of silence, the Military & Veteran Success Center (MVSC) coordinates students, staff, faculty, members of ROTC, the Nebraska National Guard and the veteran community to be Readers of the names of those killed in action (KIA) from WWI until the present-day conflict in 10 minute blocks.

The National Roll Call will take about 4 and half hours to read the nearly 5,000 names of those KIA who called Nebraska home. There will be a short closing ceremony to end the National Roll Call.
