Tiffany Marcantonio, Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Science at the University of Alabama, will join us in February for our virtual Seminar Series event. She will present “What do we need to know to prevent substance facilitated sexual assaults?”

Her talk will focus on some of the current questions in the field of sexual assault prevention that may need to be answered to develop more effective prevention efforts for sexual assault. Additionally, it will focus on substance use and sexual communication with an emphasis on how substance use influences consent communication and how that relates to sexual assault.

Dr. Marcantonio is a mixed method, experimental researcher. Her work focuses on sexual violence prevention and includes three areas: 1) how people communicate consent, 2) how people communicate refusals, and 3) how third-party people can intervene when they witness a sexual assault situation.
