Usher in your 2024 baseball season on Sunday, March 10 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. for an Opening Reception for the “Once Upon a Time…The Sherman-Howard County Baseball League” exhibition at Nebraska Innovation Campus. At 2:00 p.m. there will be opening comments and a few stories with a reception to follow until 4:00 p.m. This exhibition will be held at Nebraska Innovation Campus in the 2nd floor link. This gallery space is connected to the former 4-H Building during the Nebraska State Fair days.

Come in to experience this unique town team baseball photo collection that is now making its 26th stop. Put on your old jersey, grab the wife or girlfriend (you’d be surprised by the stories women have), kids, grandkids and former teammates and spend the afternoon reminiscing and storytelling. “Darryl” and the “Captain of the Older Timers” will even be there along with snacks, a take home “freebie” and you’ll hear about the “next big thing”.

What started out with a 1926 Howard County Champions photo with his grandfather in it has not stopped. When Randy ” bat man” Lukasiewicz, founder of the Farwell Athletic Club and create of the Farwell Fence Busters vintage ball team, a long time ago asked Coach Osborne, who has roots back to the Farwell Nebraska area, what he should do with all his pictures, T.O. simply replied “I’m sure you’ll think of something.” He was right!

Don’t worry if you can’t make the opening reception on March 10, this exhibit will be available to view daily from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. thru April 30.

Grab a drink, snack or cup of Joe at The Mill Coffee & Bistro downstairs, and then come up to the second floor gallery and stroll the many historic photos with descriptions and memorabilia from the Sunday afternoon town team baseball era at the ball park with sounds of “wooden bats and steel cleats.”

More fun past F.A.C. video clips are @ Youtube @ Farwell Athletic Club. Questions or RSVP at (402) 657-9150 or kazumrl@cox.net.

“I see great things in baseball. It’s our game - the American game. It will take people out-of-doors, fill them with oxygen, give them a large physical stoicism. Tend to relieve us from being a nervous, dyspeptic set. Repair these losses, and be a blessing to us. - Walt Whitman
