Out of the Darkness is a philanthropic student-run organization that raises money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. We will be having a walk for suicide prevention at the UNL City Campus Union Plaza on April 14, 2024, with opening ceremonies starting at noon.
With our upcoming Campus and Community Walk, we hope to meet the fundraising goal of $10,000. All money raised from the event and the silent auction will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), a national non-profit whose mission is to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. AFSP is a research-based organization that conducts research on suicide prevention and uses that research to develop educational programs, support those who are struggling, and reach out to local communities about suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Check-in starts at 11:00 am at the Union Plaza. Opening ceremonies will begin at noon, and we will walk to the Capitol where we will hear from a speaker about their personal journey with suicide prevention. We will have games and snacks during check-in, and all money raised will be donated to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
