If you aren’t familiar with community psychology (we’re small but mighty!), we’re a field dedicated to producing social justice focused, action-oriented research that can positively affect local communities and public policy. Our program at WSU is made up of four faculty: myself, Dr. Rhonda Lewis, Dr. Jennifer Demers, and Dr. Nabiha Chaudhary. Our doctoral training is focused on community research, evaluation, program design, community interventions, and other related areas. All students complete an empirical dissertation and students coming in at the bachelor’s level also complete a second-year project, akin to a master’s thesis. Most students act as teaching assistants or course instructors in exchange for a partial tuition waiver and stipend. The program typically takes 4-5 years to complete if a student enters with a bachelor’s and 3-4 years to complete if a student enters with their Master’s.

Applications to our program are due on January 15th, and we are having a virtual info session on October 26th at 2pm CST for anyone interested in learning more. I’ve attached a flyer with Zoom information. If you or any of your students are interested in hearing more, we’d love to have you join us!
