Leadership consultant, educator, and former Harvard scholar Michael Shiner will give a lecture titled “Homer Told the Truth About Leadership” on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019 at 5:00 pm in Burnett Hall, Room 107, 1220 T St, Lincoln, Nebraska.
Shiner’s lecture is based on a forthcoming book co-written with Achilles in Vietnam author Jonathan Shay. In this fresh take on Homer’s epics, Shiner explores how the leadership styles described by Homer can offer valuable lessons for managers. Shiner and Shay employ the Iliad and Odyssey to understand not only the dangers of malpractice by power figures, but how to avoid these pitfalls and be effective and ethical leaders.
Support provided by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, UCARE, and the Mill Coffee and Tea
Presented by the UNL Department of Classics and Religious Studies
