Nebraska Extension in Nemaha County will host a two-night Annie’s Project Inspired workshop on budgeting and financial management for agricultural operations, along with research updates and stress management strategies. It will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on both Nov. 29 and Dec. 13 at the ESU 4 Conference Center, 2301 Dahlke Ave., in Auburn.

“Let’s Budget — It’s as Easy as ABC! Plus, More…” will begin Nov. 29 with a user training workshop for the online Agricultural Budget Calculator (ABC) program. It will cover using the program to prepare crop and livestock budgets, creating budgets for different enterprises, generating financial reports, making big decisions and more. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet to gain hands-on experience during the workshop. Some computers will be available if needed.

The free ABC program is developed by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to assist agricultural producers in determining their cost of production and economic returns for farm or ranch enterprises.

The workshop will continue a second night on Dec. 13 with the latest news from the university’s on-farm research and a presentation on “mending the stress fence.” The evening will also feature continued discussion on the ABC program, including an extended question-and-answer period.

The two evenings of experiential learning are inspired by Annie’s Project, a nationwide program with a mission to empower farm and ranch women to be better business partners through networks and by managing and organizing critical information. The workshop is being presented by the university’s Center for Agricultural Profitability and Nebraska Women in Agriculture program.

Time will be built into each session for dinner, questions, sharing, reacting and connecting with other attendees. The workshops are free to attend, but registration is limited to 20 participants.

Register by Nov. 23 at https://cap.unl.edu/abc/training, or by calling Nebraska Extension in Nemaha County at 402-274-4755.
