Our first Teacher Development workshop of the year will be held on Tuesday October 10 from 12:30-2pm, in Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall, Room 115. (Pizza will be provided; please RSVP by Oct. 3, so we can order appropriate quantities.) This workshop, led by Elva Moreno del Rio, Bianca Swift, Alina Nguy?n, and Keshia Mcclantoc, will focus on Shame in the Classroom. Presenters will reflect on how institutions instill shame in students, how we encounter shame in our classrooms, and how we might choose to respond as teachers. Attendees will have the opportunity to take part in an interactive activity, and build a dialogue about navigating shame in the classroom. As always, these workshops are open to everyone interested in teaching, including graduate students, faculty, and staff.
