Karen Peterson is Professor and Chair in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and a Professor of Global Public Health at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, Ann Arbor. Dr. Peterson’s major research interests include: 1) the examination of effects of diet and toxicants found in foods and personal care products on physical growth, maturation and development of obesity and metabolic risk across sensitive life course periods; 2) the design and evaluation of population-based interventions promoting health behaviors and reducing obesity and risk of nutrition-related chronic conditions; and 3) the development and validation of diet and physical activity measures in children and adults.
