Winter Lecture Series

National Identity and the Politics of Nationalism

Date:
Time:
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Unitarian Church of Lincoln Room: Auditorium
6300 A Street
Lincoln NE
As we face international issues of poverty, water shortages, food security, climate change, wars, terrorism, refugees, and nuclear proliferation, people create and confront those problems in nation states that do not always claim their identity and loyalty. Instead, identities may be based more strongly on affiliations that are tribal, cultural, racial, regional, religious, or even international. This lecture series examines the complex subject of how national and other identities and loyalties are manipulated and constructed, and the role they play in world affairs.

Sun, Mar 13: Africa. Professor Dane Kennedy, George Washington University.

Sun, Mar 20: Panel discussion. Reactions and summary. Participants TBA.
