The March meeting of the OLLI Baseball Interest Group sill be held on Tuesday, March 13, at Stauffer’s Cafe and Pie Shoppe, 5600 S. 48th St. All OLLI baseball fans are welcome to come and participate.

Topics for discussion this month include:

1. “Sports Illustrated” published its list of the “Top 100” major league players for 2018. It’s no surprise that Mike Trout heads the list, but who are the next 99? Also of note, there are no Kansas City Royals included. It could be a long summer in the Midlands!

Check out the list at:

2. Rich Eisen sparked a controversy on his talk radio show by claiming that MLB was exploring a rule that would allow the team trailing in the ninth inning to ignore the batting order and send up any three players of the manager’s choosing — even if they had just batted in the eighth inning. So if the Yankees were trailing the Red Sox in the bottom of the ninth, Aaron Boone could choose to send up Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Gary Sanchez. The logic is that fans want to see the best players at crunch time like in other sports. What do you think about an idea like that?

3. It’s prediction time! Download this form to select the winners of each of MLB’s six divisions, the wildcard teams, and the eventual world champion for 2018. Fill out the form and come and defend your choices!
