The December meeting of the OLLI Baseball Interest Group will be held on Tuesday, Dec 10 at 3 p.m. at Stauffer’s Cafe & Pie Shoppe, 5600 S. 48th Street.

All OLLI baseball fans are welcome to come for a good piece of pie and baseball “hot stove” league conversation.

Among the topics to be discussed this month are:

1. December is time for balloting for the 2020 Hall of Fame class. Will anyone besides Derek Jeter get elected this year?

Here’s the link to the ballot and the veteran’s ballot:

2. Mike Fiers revealed that the Houston Astros were using cameras and trash can lids to steal signs and relay the information to batters in 2017. MLB is investigating the situation. What do think about that?

3. Baseball has been experimenting in some of the minor independent leagues using radar to call balls and strikes. There is talk that technology will be expanded and eventually used in the major leagues. Do you agree with that and should be “human element” be reduced in calling the games?

4. The Cincinnati Reds have signed Mike Moustakis to a 4 year deal. After “striking out” in the free agent market a couple of time “The Moose” finally gets a pay-day. Well deserved?
